Suikoden STAR LEAP is a JRPG set in the universe of the Suikoden saga, whose story takes place before the events of the original game, but after the events of Suikoden V. In other words, the game is canon within the franchise's timeline. In fact, as is typical of the saga, some familiar faces from other installments will crop up.
A brand new story
Suikoden STAR LEAP is set a few years before the events of the first game, in the Scarlet Moon Empire. As is tradition in the saga, your hero will start as a simple hunter in a small village, but little by little his destiny will lead him to command the army of an entire nation. With the help of one of the 27 original runes and with the 108 stars of destiny by his side, he will be able to face up to all the adventures that await him.
Collect the 108 stars of destiny
Of course, in Suikoden STAR LEAP you can recruit 108 different characters, the 108 stars of destiny. As you might have expected from a mobile game, the way to get hold of all these characters is via a gacha mechanic. You will start the game with a predetermined group of heroes, including the unnamed protagonist, Hisui, Hou, Shirin and Shapur. As you progress through the story, you can recruit new heroes who will join your cause.
Build and upgrade your base
Another classic element within the Suikoden saga is the presence of a base of operations, where you can find all the characters you recruit. And Suikoden STAR LEAP is no different. After playing the game for a couple of hours you will get your base and can start customizing it. You can build different types of rooms inside your base, such as stores, inns or barracks. In addition, you are free to move around the base and talk to all the stars of destiny, who will always have something to tell you.
